DUAL ENROLLMENT

Dual Enrollment is an essential component of the Upward Bound experience as it provides access to college credit while scholars are still in high school. This improves confidence about college readiness and lowers tuition costs for college graduation by shortening the time to college graduation.

To prepare for this opportunity, students must register and take the ACCUPLACER. If scholars have not registered for the ACCUPLACER, this is a tutorial for signing up. This tutorial will walk you through the steps of how to register and the importance of meeting key deadlines throughout the process. As always, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask your coordinator or advising TM.

SDP PACKET SUPPORT

The bulk of virtual programming will be supporting scholars completion of SDP support packets which they will turn in at their school once they are back. These packets can be found online on Philadelphia School District's website and in Virtual Programming. Packets come in only the 4 core subjects, and each TM will be responsible for working with students based on subject for 1 hour per week. Some teachers at each school may be hosting online sessions or assignments, which students may be excused from packet sessions if they submit proof of work (i.e. submission screenshots or photos).

CARVER ENS PACKET SUPPORT

Carver ENS has designed their own learning guides and work has been assigned by teacher and subject. Carver will be a larger support. For example, English I has three different teachers and each teacher has assigned different work. Most of these teachers are hosting an online classroom once a week to support their scholars, as well. After surveying which scholars have which teachers, TMs have been assigned per teacher, per subject, only for classes our scholars are enrolled in. Assignments can be found here. Some teachers at each school may be hosting online sessions or assignments, which students may be excused from packet sessions if they submit proof of work (i.e. submission screenshots or photos).

SCHOOL-BASED ASSIGNMENT SUPPORT

Some schools are supporting their students online. Many teachers at these schools are offering online learning already. For these scholars, they should have group tutoring once per week for a subject they feel most need. For the other subjects, they should complete proof of work. Coordinators will track this in the attendance spreadsheet, but TMs will track group tutoring attendance.
