PIPELINE SERVICES

Steppingstone Scholars is particularly concerned with addressing barriers to college enrollment among first-generation, low-income and minority youth, the primary populations served by the nonprofit organization. To overcome these barriers, Steppingstone Scholars has implemented city-wide college access programming.

STEP INTO COLLEGE

The Step Into College Conference is a two-day college access conference that provides students and their families with essential, college preparation, guidance, and informational resources. In addition, the Step Into College Conference aims to reconcile the numerous high schools in Philadelphia burdened with a lack of counseling staff due to budget cuts. For the past four years, the Step Into College Conference has served and empowered over 2000 students, counselors, and families.

We would like to invite you to participate in the 4th Annual Step Into College Conference March 10th and 11th at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, PA. As part of the conference, we hold a College Fair that will allow you to meet with students and parents to discuss all aspects of your institution and its benefit to attendees. Our goal with this conference is to provide information, motivation and an opportunity for Philadelphia area students,

parents and high school counselors to gain skills and knowledge to help them prepare for college and beyond.

HOW TO APPLY TO COLLEGE

Steppingstone Scholars, Inc. in partnership with University of Pennsylvania’s Office of Admissions has launched their first massive open online course (MOOC) collaboration via Coursera, entitled “How to Apply to College.”

“How to Apply to College” is designed as a guide for students interested in learning how to navigate the college search and admissions process, with an emphasis on first-generation and underserved students. Families and counselors can also benefit from the “How to Apply to College” through lectures and resources on the national college admissions landscape to better assist their children and students with affording, applying to and succeeding in college.
