Join us as we traveling the Northeast coast and visit colleges, talk with students and get a sense of each campus!

This Spring, we are traveling to: Columbia University, Princeton University, Swarthmore College, American University and HBCU Howard University.​

2017 INTERNSHIP PLACEMENT PROGRAM!

July 3 - August 5, 2017

The Steppingstone Scholars Internship Placement Program (IPP) provides summer internships for

10th-11th grade students. The program encourages students to pursue post-secondary education

and training in a related field while also learning important workplace skills. Students will

participate in weekly Professional Development sessions and develop a Capstone project about

their internship experience.å

Requirements: 10th & 11th Grade Scholars, register & attend IPP Workshop (4/1/2017) & IPP Networking Breakfast (5/6/17)

Wistar Institute: Summer Fellowship Program in Biomedical Research

Wistar’s Summer Fellowship Program in Biomedical Research provides an opportunity for students to enhance their understanding of current biological/biomedical theory and research tools and techniques at a nationally recognized nonprofit research institution.  Students learn research skills together, taught by a team of mentors, and individually as each student trains in a principal investigator’s laboratory for the duration of the program; ... click the title for more information. 

Eligibility Requirements: Ages 16+, demonstrated interest in science-related fields of study

Application Deadline: March 31, 2017

Program Dates: June 26-August 18, 2017

Stipend: $1,250

Drexel University WorkReady Internship:

Each summer, Drexel hosts a cohort of high school interns on its Philadelphia campuses for paid working experiences. Interns have the opportunity to work in a variety of academic and administrative departments, obtaining real-world work experience and exposure to the collegiate setting. Students must complete a WorkReady Application.

Eligibility Requirements: 10th-12th graders living in West Philadelphia

Trip Initiative @ Temple University

The Teen Research Internship Program (TRIP) is a rigorous lab-based course for high school students who are motivated to explore their interests in science and medicine. The mission of the TRIP Initiative is to foster an enthusiasm for science by offering students a chance to do hypothesis-driven research and hands-on learning in a lab... click title for more info.

Penn Summer Science Initiative

The Laboratory for Research on the Structure of Matter (LRSM) has organized a free PSSI four week summer program for local high school students interested in materials science and engineering. The program consists of lectures on materials, a computer lab, experimental labs, and field trips to both industrial and Penn facilities. This program will be taught by Penn faculty and staff who are associated with the LRSM.

Eligibility Requirements: 10th-11th graders who’ve completed chemistry and/or physics by the summer

COLLEGE PREP CORNER

The Steppingstone Academy (TSA) offers a 9-week ACT/SAT Prep course for 11th and 12th grade students during the fall and spring of each year. TSA students attend Saturday sessions at Temple University where they use competitive test prep books and online resources to sharpen their skills. During each session, students learn new test-taking strategies and innovative approaches to important content areas.

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

The Cooke Young Scholars Program

 

Applications will be available beginning Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017.

 

This unique pre-college scholarship program is open to high-achieving 7th grade students with financial need.

Cooke Young Scholars will receive academic and college counseling, financial support for enrichment activities, and access to a community of ambitious peers and mentorship opportunities.

Join us for an upcoming webinar to learn more about this program. These information sessions are designed for educators, community leaders, and other potential outreach partners.

Senior Program Manager of Outreach Nara Lee will be presenting live and cover eligibility requirements and selection criteria, as well as answer questions from attendees.
